Ottoman Empire. Mustafa II. AH 1106-1115 / AD 1695-1703. AV Sultani (20mm, 3.40 g, 12h). Ordu-yu Humayun mint. Dated AH 1106 (AD 1695). Artuk 1737; Pere 489; KM A131. Near EF, ex-mount and with matte surfaces. Very rare. 'Ordu-yu Humayun' translates as 'Imperial Army', and denotes a travelling military mint. INDIA, Mughal Empire. Nur al-Din Muhammad Jahangir. AH 1014-1037 / AD 1605-1627. AR Rupee (16.4mm, 11.35 g, 2h). Rohtas mint. Dated RY 20, month of Farwardin. KM 145.14. Near VF, test marks in fields. Rare. This rupee was struck by Prince Khurram, Jahangir's son and the future emperor Shah Jahan, who rebelled against his father in AD 1622. Khurram held the fortress of Rohtas, located in South Bihar, for several years, and his wife Mumtaz Mahal bore him a son there in AD 1624. It is possible that the rare coins of Khurram struck at Rohtas were connected to this event.
