IONIA, Larbe or the Larbenoi. 1st century BC. Æ (19.5mm, 6.07 g). Winged thunderbolt. KM p. 384, 1 (Lagbe in Pisidia); Waddington 3756 (same). Green and brown surfaces, cleaning scratches. Good Fine. Extremely rare, only one in CoinArchives. From the Don T. Hayes Collection. The reading of the legend on early examples was unclear, and thought to have read ΛAΓBHNΩN, which led to the attribution to Lagbe in Pisidia. However, this reading was later clarified to ΛAPBHNΩN, thus the coins are likely an issue of Larbe or the Larbenoi. Unfortunately, the location of this mint is currently unknown, but thought to possibly be in the vicinity of Magnesia on the Maeander in Ionia. (H. von Aulock, Münzen und Städt Pisidiens, Volume 1, p. 35. Interestingly, von Aulock notes that he has an example, but it does not appear in his sylloge.)
