Al-Katib.The name on the reverse of this coin is that of Musa b. 'Isa, who held the governorship of Egypt on three occasions between AH 170-180. Bernardi records a single dinar dated AH 176 which bears Musa's name, held in the American Numismatic Society (ANS 1951.174.4), who apparently described it as a 'contemporary or modern counterfeit'. The present specimen is unquestionably genuine, and is thus the first confirmed dinar from the year AH 176 which names Musa.
