Constantine I. AD 307/310-337. Æ Follis (26mm, 4.61 g, 6h). Londinium (London) mint. Struck circa AD 311-312. Radiate, helmeted, and cuirassed bust left, holding ‘scepter’ over shoulder and shield / Concordia standing left, holding a signum in each hand; –|*//PLN. RIC VI 204; RML 398 (forthcoming); C&T 7.04.027; Huvelin, Deux 91. Olive brown-green patina, reverse die wear. Good VF. Very rare. Struck on a broad flan.

From the Dr. Malcolm Lyne Collection.

Huvelin made a distinction between the dies on this issue that have the spear point and those that do not making the spear resemble a scepter. C&T does not differentiate between the two. RML does allow for a distinction, but recognizes that the ‘scepter’ is intended as a spear.
