Galerio tenía ya 35 años, maduro y barbado, cuando se acuña este áureo y todavía faltarían diez años para que fuese nombrado emperador. Por eso el reverso nos dice: PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS, nombramiento que le situaba en la línea de sucesión imperial. Y así le vemos magníficamente representado, ataviado con vestimenta militar, sosteniendo lanza y con “el mundo” en sus manos, (en exergo, ceca: V SIS (Siscia).Una pieza como esta fue subastada el 4 de abril de 2004, por Numismatica Ars Classica NAC AG, Lote 1157, en 17.000 francos suizos.

Galerius was already 35 years old, mature and bearded, when this aureus was struck, there would still be ten years before he was appointed emperor. That is why the reverse tells us: PRINCIPI IVVENTVTIS, an appointment that placed him in the line of imperial succession. And so we see him superbly represented, dressed in military attire, holding spear and with "the world" in his hands, (in exergue, mint: V SIS (Siscia). A piece like this was auctioned on April 4, 2004, by Numismatica Ars Classica NAC AG, Lot 1157, at 17,000 Swiss francs.
