THRACE, Apollonia Pontika. Circa 375-335 BC. AR Diobol (11.5mm, 1.30 g, 6h). Ti–, magistrate. Laureate head of Apollo facing / Upright anchor; A and crayfish flanking; T[AY?] to left. THRACE, Byzantion. Circa 387/6-340 BC. AR Half Siglos (13mm, 2.47 g). Bull standing left on dolphin left / Quadripartite incuse square. Schönert-Geiss, Byzantion 256–590; HGC 3, 1390. Some light hairlines on reverse. VF. Well centered and struck.
THRACE, Chersonesos. Circa 386-338 BC. AR Hemidrachm (14mm, 2.04 g). Forepart of lion right, head reverted / Quadripartite incuse square with alternating raised and sunken quarters; pellet in one sunken quarter, pellet-over-AΓ monogram in the opposite. McClean 4060; HGC 3, 1437. Lightly toned, some porosity. VF.
THRACE, Chersonesos. Circa 386-338 BC. AR Hemidrachm (14mm). Forepart of lion right, head reverted / Quadripartite incuse square with alternating raised and sunken quarters; A with pellet and rosette in opposite sunken quarters. McClean 4086 var. Forepart of lion right, head reverted / Quadripartite incuse square with alternating raised and sunken quarters; kantharos in one sunken quarter, pellet-over-I monogram in the opposite. McClean –; HGC 3, 1437; Nomos Obolos 5, lot 86 (same obv. die). Lightly toned, a little off center. VF. Rare with these control marks.
THRACE, Maroneia. Late 2nd-mid 1st centuries BC. AR Tetradrachm (31mm, 16.61 g, 12h). Wreathed head of young Dionysos right / Dionysos standing half-left, holding grapes and narthex stalks; monograms to inner left and inner right. Schönert-Geiss 1005 var. (V12/R– [unlisted rev. die]); HGC 3, 1556. Toned, wavy flan, scratches, struck with worn reverse die. VF.
THRACE, Mesambria. Circa 325-175 BC. Æ (16mm, 3.78 g). Facing helmet / Ethnic within spokes of wheel. HGC 3, 1578; SNG BM Black Sea 274. Dark green surfaces, a few light cleaning marks. VF. Ex Artemide Aste 40E (10 September 2017), lot 54.
THRACE, Mesambria. Circa 225-175 BC. AR Tetradrachm (32.5mm, 16.48 g, 12h). In the name and types of Alexander III of Macedon. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in inner left field, helmet right above ΔI (engraved over previous control mark). Karayotov I 49 (O19/R53); Price 1001; HGC 3, 1567. Lightly toned, with a faint iridescence, double struck on obverse, indications of undertype on reverse. VF. It is clear that the ΔI control mark on the reverse is engraved over a different control (possibly a monogram). However, a coin using the die with the prior control is known, so it is possible that the change in controls was made before the die was first used.

ISLANDS off THRACE, Thasos. Circa 140-110 BC. AR Tetradrachm (32.5mm, 16.78 g, 10h). Wreathed head of young Dionysos right / Herakles standing facing, head left, holding club, lion skin draped over left arm; monogram to inner left. Prokopov, Silberprägung, Group IX, 347 (V Ja13/R 294); Le Rider, Thasiennes 51; HGC 6, 358; BMC 221 (same dies). Toned, traces of find patina, bent flan, cleaning scratches, struck with worn dies. Head of Herakles right, wearing lion skin / Zeus Aëtophoros seated left; in left field, forepart of Pegasos left; monogram below throne. Thompson 33; Price 1442; ADM II E–F; HGC 3, 1751b. Lightly toned. VF.
KINGS of THRACE, Macedonian. Lysimachos. 305-281 BC. AR Tetradrachm (30mm, 16.62 g, 1h). Magnesia on the Maeander mint. Struck circa 297/6-282/1 BC. Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, arm resting on shield, transverse spear in background; monogram to inner left, ornament on throne. Thompson –; cf. Müller 555–6; HGC 3, 1750e; Meydancikkale 2725 (uncertain mint). Traces of find patina, light porosity. Near VF. This issue is not attributed to Magnesia in Meydancikkale, but certain elements of this coin strongly suggest it belongs to that mint, such as the ornament on the throne, and the similarity of the obverse style compared to that found on most published examples of Thompson 115. The ornament is also found on select issues of Mytilene and Ephesos, but the obverse style at those mints is quite different from what is found here.

THRACO-MACEDONIAN REGION, Uncertain. Early 5th century BC. AR Tetartemorion(?) (6.5mm, 0.23 g, 12h). Bee or wasp standing right / Tortoise within incuse square. Unpublished in the standard references, but for an identical obverse type on a drachm, cf. Tzamalis 62–4 and CH VIII, Hoard 37, pl. IV, 10–3. Toned, granular surfaces. Near VF.
