LUCANIA, Metapontion. Circa 290-280 BC. AR Nomos (21.5mm, 7.73 g, 9h). Wreathed head of Demeter left; ΔI below neck / Barley ear with leaf to left; above leaf, Satyr standing right, playing pipes. Johnston Class D, 2.5 corr. (same dies; ΔI not noted); HN Italy 1614. Toned, underlying luster, slight doubling, minor die wear. Good VF. Very rare, only one example from one die pair noted by Johnston. Ex Berk BBS 104 (16 September 1998), lot 75.
