Struck in the name of Alexander III of Macedon. Mint in the lower Danube region. IBERIA, Emporion (as Untikesken). Early 2nd century BC. Æ As (31.5mm, 23.24 g, 2h). Helmeted head of Athena right / Pegasos, head in the form of Chrysaor, flying right. Ex CNG inventory 151182 (December 2003); Sternberg XIII (17 November 1993), lot 5.The river-god Chrysaor was a local deity whose figure appears as the head of the Pegasos in both the silver and bronze series at Emporion. On this specimen, the figure is exceptionally clear; the deity appears seated, with legs stretched-out before him, one arm placed behind (as if holding onto the head of Pegasos, and the other arm stretched-out towards his feet. The reason for the figure's appearance is uncertain, and it may actually be some other deity or personification.

Nude youth on horse stepping left, crowning it with wreath; NK monogram to right, ΦIΛOKPA below / Phalanthos, holding kantharos and trident, on dolphin left; AΠOΛ to right. Vlasto 830–3; HN Italy 997. Toned, light scratch in field on obverse, some die wear on reverse. Good VF.
LUCANIA, Herakleia or Tarentum. Circa 432-420 BC or 380-325 BC. AR Diobol (9mm, 0.93 g, 12h). Head of Athena right, wearing helmet decorated with a hippocamp / Herakles wrestling the Nemean lion. Van Keuren 40 (Herakleia) or Vlasto 1309 (Tarentum); HN Italy 1360 (Herakleia) or 911 (Tarentum). Find patina, compact flan, light roughness. VF.
LUCANIA, Metapontion. Circa 400-340 BC. AR Nomos (19mm, 7.47 g, 7h). Head of female right, hair held in net / Grain ear with leaf to right; pomegranate(?) above leaf.
