Pre-reform issues, Arab-Sasanian. In the name of Khusraw II. AR Drachm (31.9mm, 3.48 g, 8h). BYŠ (Bishapur) mint. Dated AH 47 (AD 667/68). Obverse margin: - / bismillah / al-Malik / -. Malek, Arab-Sasanian 258; SICA 1, 117; Album C6 (all silver). Plating virtually intact. Good VF. While fully literate, the style of the calligraphy on this piece is slightly coarse, especially the mint and date on the reverse. The coin is slightly underweight, as one would expect from a plated imitation, but the silver plating is intact except for a small patch below the star-and-crescent at 9h in the reverse margin. Arab-Sasanian drachms with bismillah al-malik in the obverse margin are only known from Bishapur dated AH 47.
