LUCANIA, Thourioi. Circa 400-350 BC. AR Nomos (22mm, 7.44 g, 5h). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with Skylla right, behind whom is three pellets; three pellets behind neck guard / Bull butting right; in exergue, fish right. Cf. HN Italy 1784–95 (unlisted variety with pellets); McClean 1280 (same dies). Light iridescent tone, minor roughness. VF. Very rare variety. From the Don T. Hayes Collection, purchased 3 April 1997.
