Exceptional Bronze Steelyard Weight Modeled After the Emperor Nero. Roman. Late 1st-3rd Centuries AD. (4-1/8" x 3-1/2" x 1-3/4", 445g) Youthful bust with features resembling Nero wearing diadem of roses and vines with streamers hanging across his shoulders, lion's skin draped over his left shoulder. Pierced for suspension, remnants of mounting post remain. Pleasing natural patina with minimal deposits. Website shipping rates do not apply. Each piece with gilt-foil edge and yellow paper surrounds, mounted on a sea-green paper background on one of four stacking wood trays. Maker's label on inner lid. As made. Box mostly intact, one impression chipped. A wonderful souvenir of the Grand Tour.
