Dinars bearing the name of Khalid are known only for the year AH 187, although no individual named Khalid is known to have been involved with the administration of Egypt in this year. One possible candidate might be Khalid al-Ghitrif b. 'Ata, appointed to the governorship of Khurasan in AH 175, but Bernardi proposes that Khalid might be the grandfather of Ja'far b. Yahya b. Khalid al-Barmaki, and that he was named on these dinars to mark the centenary of his birth.
