Augustus. 27 BC-AD 14. AR Denarius (18mm, 3.72 g, 6h). Uncertain Spanish mint (Colonia Patricia?). Struck 18 BC. Bare head right / Triumphal arch of Augustus: central arch surmounted by a facing quadriga; side arches, on each of which is a standing figure. RIC I 134a; RSC 84. Toned, banker's mark, "A" graffito on obverse, reverse slightly off center. Good VF. Ex Aureo & Calicó 367 (2 June 2021), lot 2067.The Arcus Augusti was erected in the Roman Forum in 20 BC and commemorated the return of the battle standards lost by Crassus at the Battle of Carrhae.
