Stylized laureate head of Zeus right / Nude youth on horseback right, holding rein; Λ over race torch below, monogram to right. OTA 14.6; Flesche 639 (this coin); Lanz 351; cf. Old cabinet tone, struck on a compact flan. Near VF. Rare. Ex Freeman & Sear 14 (21 June 2007), lot 21.Depeyrot records only 51 examples, most of which are in museums. Dubnocoveros means 'giant of the world' and Dubnorex means 'king of the world'. The latter is probably the same person as Dumnorix, described by Caesar as the brother of Diviciacus "...who at that time held the chief magistracy of his tribe and enjoyed great popularity" (BG 1.3).
