EASTERN EUROPE, Imitations of Skostokos of Thrace. 3rd century BC. AR Tetradrachm (28mm, 14.16 g, 7h). Diademed head of the deified Alexander right, with horn of Ammon / Athena Nikephoros seated left, left arm resting on shield; herm to inner left. Fischer-Bossert, Lysimacheier F (this coin); KHM –. Richly toned. Near EF. Very rare. Though this coin was dismissed as a modern forgery by Fischer-Bossert without discussion, considering the quality of the metal, we think that it is in fact an ancient Celtic issue.
IBERIA, Konterbia Karbika. Circa 150-100 BC. Æ Fractional Unit (16mm, 2.65 g, 3h). Male head right; dolphin to left / Horse galloping right; four pellets above. ACIP 1832. Green patina, trace deposits, cleaning scratches. VF. Very rare.
GAUL, Massalia. Circa 150-125 BC. AR Drachm (16mm, 2.77 g, 6h). Light standard. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over shoulder / Lion standing left, raising foreleg; monogram to right. F&P DRM-37-1. Minor edge split, small area of weak strike. Good VF.
GAUL, Massalia. Circa 125-90 BC. AR Drachm (15.5mm, 2.69 g, 6h). Light standard. Draped bust of Artemis right, wearing stephane, bow and quiver over shoulder / Lion standing left; Φ below raised foreleg, Ξ H below. F&P DRM-42-2. Some die wear, slightly off center, indications of undertype. Near EF.
GAUL, Massalia. Circa 125-90 BC. AR Drachm (17mm, 2.70 g, 7h). Light standard. Diademed and draped bust of Artemis right, bow and quiver over shoulder / Lion standing left, raising foreleg; Λ below, AM in exergue. F&P DRM-44-7. Area of weak strike, some die wear on reverse. Good VF.

CALABRIA, Tarentum. Circa 240-228 BC. AR Nomos (20mm, 6.49 g, 5h). Reduced standard. Nude warrior, brandishing javelin, on horse galloping right; wreath to left, OΛYMΠIΣ below / Phalanthos, nude, holding kantharos and cornucopia, on dolphin left; tripod to right. Vlasto 942–3; HN Italy 1055. Lightly toned, a couple of minor flan flaws on reverse. Good VF.
LUCANIA, Metapontion. Circa 400-340 BC. AR Nomos (20mm, 7.55 g, 12h). [Obverse die signed by the artist Aristo[xenos]]. Head of Demeter left; behind neck, [A-PIΣTO (the latter portion below crossbar of A)] / Barley ear with leaf to left; [vial or gourd hanging from leaf to left]. Noe 426 (same dies); HN Italy 1515. LUCANIA, Thourioi. Circa 350-300 BC. AR Triobol (12mm, 1.34 g, 7h). Head of Athena right, wearing crested Attic helmet decorated with Skylla pointing / Bull butting right; ΣΩ below; [in exergue, fish right]. HN Italy 1822a var. (ΣΩ above); SNG ANS –. BRUTTIUM, Kroton. Circa 500-480 BC. AR Third Nomos – Drachm (17mm, 1.68 g, 12h). Medium incuse type. Tripod, legs surmounted by wreaths and terminating in lion's feet, two serpents rising from the bowl; crab to right / Incuse tripod as obverse, but wreaths in relief and no serpents; Δ to left. HN Italy 2086; SNG ANS 300 (same dies). Toned, crystallized, broken flan, with some edge loss. Near EF. Rare. Ex Triton VI (14 January 2003), lot 81 (since broken).
