The Repentant Magdalen: half-length figure of Mary Magdalene facing slightly right with face turned upwards; on draped table before, flagellum open book upon which skull sits, and jar of oil; tree on either side / Incuse of obverse. Cf. Penitent Magdalene by Titian (see example in the Getty). EF, japaned surfaces with face, hands, and other portions of the surface originally polished. Mounted in a rosewood ogee frame with original brass hanger mounted on back. An attractive piece of Counter-Reformation Roman Catholic art.NB: the diameter and weight include the medal and frame.
