Helmeted head of Athena right, with frontal eye / Owl standing right, head facing; olive sprig and crescent behind; all within incuse square. Kroll 8; HGC 4, 1597. Good VF, lightly toned, struck on a folded flan. This coin was struck on a folded flan, which is canonical for the large pi-style coins of the 4th century, but very unusual for the present series. Such an occurrence suggests that the mint was experimenting with this form of re-striking at this early time, and also suggests that this coin may have been struck closer to the end of the 5th century.
