SICILY, Syracuse. Dionysios I. 405-367 BC. AR Hemidrachm (15.5mm, 1.71 g, 9h). Obverse die signed by the artist E– (Euarchidas or Euainetos?). Struck circa 405-400 BC. Charioteer driving fast quadriga right; above, Nike flying left, crowning charioteer; in exergue, [E between two dolphins confronted] / Head of Arethousa right, hair in sphendone; two dolphins around. Boehringer, Münzprägungen, pl. II, 18; HGC 2, 1367 (hemidrachm, Second Democracy). Fine, toned, rough surfaces, deposits.
SICILY, Syracuse. Agathokles. 317-289 BC. AR Stater (23mm, 8.65 g, 11h). Struck circa 317-306/5 BC. Head of Athena right, wearing crested Corinthian helmet decorated with griffin on the bowl; trophy to left / Pegasos flying left; triskeles above. Pegasi 16; BAR Issue 3; HGC 2, 1402. Good VF, minor double strike. Well centered on a broad flan.
SKYTHIA, Geto-Dacians. Koson. Mid 1st century BC. AV Stater (20mm, 8.37 g, 12h). Roman consul accompanied by two lictors advancing left; monogram to left / Eagle standing left on scepter, holding wreath. Iliescu 1; RPC I 1701A; BMC Thrace p. 208, 1. In NGC encapsulation graded Ch MS, Strike: 5/5; Surfaces: 5/5.
SKYTHIA, Olbia. Circa 437-410 BC. Cast Æ (68mm, 135.23 g, 1h). Facing gorgoneion / Sea eagle flying right, wings spread, holding in its talons a dolphin right; A-P-I-X around. Anokhin 168; Karyshkovskij p. 396, Таб. IV=A, 1; Frolova & Abramzon 143–59 var. (orientation of ethnic); SNG BM Black Sea 379–84 var. (same). Near VF, earthen green patina. Very rare variety.
THRACE, Chersonesos. Circa 386-338 BC. AR Hemidrachm (12.5mm, 2.37 g). Forepart of lion right, head left / Quadripartite incuse square with alternating raised and sunken quarters; A and pellet in one sunken quarter, grape bunch in the other. ISLANDS off THRACE, Thasos. Circa 390-335 BC. AR Drachm (13.5mm, 3.08 g, 2h). Wreathed head of Dionysos left / Herakles kneeling right, drawing bow; head of satyr(?) to right; all within linear square border. Le Rider, Thasiennes 24; HGC 6, 345. Fine, thick find patina, obverse off center.
