ANGLO-SAXON, Kings of All England. Edward the Confessor. 1042-1066. Cut AR Halfpenny (20mm, 0.66 g, 6h). Pointed Helmet type. Bath mint; Godric or Osmær, moneyer. Bust right, wearing pointed helmet, holding scepter / Short cross with pellet-in-annulet center and triple crescent ends. Freeman 26 or 36; cf. BMC 6-9 (for type); North 825; SCBC 1179. Near EF, toned, a few light marks. Very rare type for Bath, Freeman records only six specimens of the corresponding penny, five of which are in the BM.
