HUNNIC TRIBES, Hephthalites. Anonymous. Circa 484/8-560. AR Drachm (28mm, 3.29 g, 3h). Countermarked issue AM (Āmul) mint issue of Husrav (Khosrau) I dated RY 41 or 45(?). Crowned Sassanian style bust right; c/m: possibly winged senmurv left / Fire altar flanked by attendants; star and crescent flanking flames. For coin:Göbl type I/1; for c/m: cf. Walker, Arab-Sasanian, p. cxlv, countermark 11. Near VF, lightly toned, some deposits.

Crowned Sassanian style bust right; d'tbwrcmtr' in Pahlavi to right; 'pd in Pahlavi to lower right in outer margin / Fire altar flanked by attendants; pellets flanking flames; date to left, mint to right; alternating fleurs-de-lis and star-in-crescents in outer margin. LOCAL ISSUES, Sogdiana. Samarkand (Pre-Ikhshid). 4th-5th centuries AD. AR Hemidrachm(?) (13mm, 1.07 g, 6h). Imitating a Susa mint drachm of Seleukos I Nikator. Abstract Seleukid-style helmet head right / Nike standing right, crowning trophy of four pellets. Cf. Senior A14.1D (for type). VF, toned.
