Bare head of Octavian right, wearing slight beard / Wreathed head of Divus Julius Caesar right. Crawford 535/1; CRI 308; Sydenham 1335. Fine, green and brown surfaces, light cleaning scratches.

Diademed head of Venus right, wearing necklace / Octavian advancing left, extending arm and holding spear. CRI 397; RIC I 251; RSC 70. VF, lightly toned, banker's mark in right obverse field, long scratch across Venus' head.

Laureate head right / Rostral column ornamented with two anchors (barely visible on this specimen) and six beaks of galleys, surmounted by a statue of Octavian, holding spear and parazonium. CRI 423; RIC I 271; RSC 124 (Augustus). Near VF, lightly toned, light marks and scratches.

Near VF, lightly toned, porous, banker's marks and scratches.

RIC I 227; Lyon –; RPC I 508. Fine, dark green patina, obverse roughness, cleaning marks.Giard, in Le monnayage de l'atelier de Lyon, regards this issue as a product of an auxiliary mint of Lugdunum. They were probably minted in the territory of the Lingones, the Aedui, or the Sequani, if not struck in Lugdunum.

Head of Liber right, wearing ivy-wreath / Parthian kneeling right in attitude of submission, offering up vexillum (marked X) and extending hand. RIC I 287; RSC 485. VF, lightly toned, struck slightly off center.This coin commemorates the major diplomatic coup of Augustus' reign: the recovery of the Roman standards, lost by Crassus at the battle of Carrhae in 54 BC, from the Parthians. The reference to Liber, who was the Latin equivalent of Dionysus and of eastern origin, is a special mythological allusion to the event and an ad hoc use of such mythology by Augustus that later would be considered unsuitable and discarded from the canon of his public image.

VVLIVS VINI (S and N are retrograde), bare head right / Victory standing left on cista mystica, holding wreath and palm frond; coiled serpent to left and right. Cf. RIC I 276; King 1; RSC 14 for prototype. VF, toned, weakly struck in spots, scratches and marks.An interesting contemporary imitation of an Augustus quinarius.
Divus Augustus. Died AD 14. Æ As (28mm, 10.79 g, 12h). Rome mint. Struck under Tiberius, circa AD 15-16. Radiate head of Augustus left; star above, thunderbolt before / Female figure (Livia or Pietas), seated right, holding patera and scepter. RIC I 72 (Tiberius). VF, green patina, some minor smoothing.

Tiberius. AD 14-37. AR Denarius (18mm, 3.73 g, 6h). Lugdunum (Lyon) mint. Struck AD 14-15 or 15-16. Laureate head right / Tiberius, holding eagle-tipped scepter and branch, driving triumphal quadriga right. RIC I 2 or 4; Lyon 122; RSC 46 or 48. VF, toned, marks, bent.
Tiberius. AD 14-37. AR Denarius (19mm, 3.71 g, 6h). Lugdunum (Lyon) mint. Group 1, AD 15-18. Laureate head right / Livia (as Pax), holding scepter in right hand and olive branch in left, seated right on chair, feet on footstool; plain chair legs, double line below.
