Well centered. Extremely rare.

Good Fine, dark green patina with touches of red. Rare.A rare variety with pellets in the angles of the cross on the reverse. MIBE lists only two examples for the type, the Roper collection and Dumbarton Oaks, but the Dumbarton Oaks specimen must have been acquired after the publication of their catalog.

Bare head left / Claudius seated left on curule chair, holding branch and resting hand on lap; weapons and armor on either side of globe beneath. RIC I 93 (Claudius); von Kaenel Type 72. Fine, encrusted red and green surfaces, some porosity.
Justinian I. 527-565. Æ Decanummium (18mm, 4.65 g, 2h). Carthage mint. Dated RY 13 (539/40). Diademed, draped, and cuirassed bust right / Large I; cross above, A/N/N/O X/III (date) across field; CAR. DOC 297; MIBE 199; SB 269. Fine, attractive green patina with earthen highlights, struck off center on the obverse. Rare.

Rosenberg Collection (Triton IX, 9 January 2006), lot 1511.Septimius Severus waged his last military campaign against the Caledonians on the northern border of Britain, where he himself died at his campaign headquarters at York in February AD 211. Among those who accompanied him on the campaign were his wife Julia Domna, as well as his sons Caracalla and Geta. Septimius and Caracalla commanded this campaign, with Caracalla becoming sole commander after his father had fallen ill. The two often did not agree on matters of strategy and we are told that at one point that Caracalla became so enraged that he appeared ready to stab his father in the back before the entire army. Upon Severus' death at York in February AD 211, Caracalla made peace with the Caledonians on less-than-favorable terms, which required the Romans retreat to the agreed border of Hadrian's Wall

OTA Class III; cf. Lukanc 1206 (same obv. die). Fine, toned, some porosity, test punch on reverse.
