Aelia Eudocia. Augusta, AD 423-460. AV Tremissis (14.5mm, 1.45 g, 6h). Constantinople mint. Struck under Theodosius II, AD 420-450/455. Pearl-diademed and draped bust right, wearing earring and necklace / Cross within wreath; CONOB*. RIC X 281 (Theodosius II; wreath ties 8); Depeyrot 72/2. Toned with some underlying luster, thin obverse die break and small reverse die mark, graffiti. Good VF. Depeyrot does not distinguish between the differences in wreath dies as Kent does in RIC X for the Eudocia tremisses. However, the examples from Kent’s wreath ties 8 are significantly scarcer than the more prevalently encountered RIC X 335.
