Almoravid Taifas. Abu Fadl 'Iyad. Sabta (Ceuta). Quirat. (FBM. S1) (Jarique IV page 209, no. 47, same example). Iyad was reconfirmed by the Almohads as Qadi of Sabta in AH 541. As a strict Sunni Maliki, he could not at heart fail to see the Almohads as heterodox and participated in an unsuccessful revolt against them. This quirat was probably minted during the short period of feigned allegiance to the Almohads. Mint name on both sides. It's the only known example. 0,85 g. MBC.

It was bent, and scratch on obverse side. We know of only one other example, auctioned at Aureo & Calico on 03/14/2019, no. 27. 4,11 g. MBC+.*This item cannot be exported (it has been declared BIC).

Almoravids. AH 494. Yusuf ibn Tashfin. Miknasa (Mequinez). Dirham or quirat. (FBM. Ba1, same example) (Actas XIV CNI. 2009, page 1822, same example). With no mention of an heir and with the title Nasir al-din appearing in the obverse margin before the ruler's name. In the center of the same side, the division of the word "rasul" into two lines is unusual, if not unique, for the period, and has not been found again in Almoravid coinage. Metrologically this coin is assimilated to the rest of the quirats, but its typology preserves some elements typical of issues from other previous periods, such as the wide marginal legends and the separation with the central legends. It's the only known example. 0,93 g. EBC-.*This item cannot be exported (it has been declared BIC).
