Double struck on reverse, but very clear mint and date. Although the date is perfectly legible, the engraver made a rare mistake: he forgot the tens, so that it reads clearly ?è#z a&C! ? a(I , "seven and four hundred", without the "thirty". The same error is found in Antonio Prieto's printing presses, and in the copy that we auctioned in the Caballero of las Yndias Collection, on 22/10/2009, No. 1410. 1,26 g. EBC-.

The Taifa of Almeria fell to Abd al-Aziz of Valencia in AH 429/1037 A.D., but the effective government was held by the governor ibn Sumadih, who soon decided to suppress the name of the sovereign on the coins. Taifa of Almeria. Anonymous, minted by Ma'an ibn Sumadih. Al Andalus. Dirhem. (V. 1041 and Prieto 354c, but with the two marginal legends visible and legible for the most part). In the "Suplemento" to Prieto's work, No. 136, "inner marginal legend" has been exchanged for "outer" and "1st area" for "2nd", Fontela Ballesta, whose article in GACETA NUMISMÁTICA 85 is cited as a reference, describes them correctly (see the comment on the mint in the previous lot). Extraordinary example, high quality silver. Extremely rare in this condition. 4,56 g. MBC+.
